AUTHORITIES killed on Tuesday eight men who were allegedly on their way to robbing a hardware shop in Cavite City.

Senior Superintendent Joselito Esquivel, Cavite City Police provincial director, said they immediately launched a dragnet operation after receiving a tip around 1:30 p.m. that the nine men on board four motorcycles were on their way to Barangay Litlit in Silang town to rob a hardware store.

The encounter started after the alleged suspects refused to submit themselves in the checkpoint installed by the responding policemen.

The eight were killed while the other one escaped.

Esquivel said they will conduct follow up search and investigation on the case. (Third Anne Peralta/Sunnex)
