FIFTY-THREE Filipino nationals working in Libya are set to return home Wednesday afternoon after they availed themselves of the voluntary repatriation being offered by the Philippine government.

In an advisory, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said two batches of Filipino repatriates are set to arrive after they volunteered to leave the crisis-torn Libya.

The first batch, which is composed of 20 Filipinos working for Korea-firm Doosan Company, is set to arrive at 4:30 p.m. onboard Emirates Airlines Flight EK332 at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), Terminal 1.

Meanwhile, the second batch composed of 33 Filipinos from the same company is also scheduled to arrive in Manila Wednesday at 10:10 p.m. via Emirates Airlines Flight EK334.

"Out of 251 Filipinos who volunteered for repatriation, only 198 remain in Libya," said the DFA.

Still, the DFA is calling on other Filipino nationals in Libya to get in touch with the Philippine Embassy in Tripoli and volunteer for repatriation.

"In view of the increasingly volatile security situation in Libya, the Department of Foreign Affairs advises all Filipino nationals in Libya to leave the country immediately," said the DFA.

Filipinos can contact the Philippine Embassy in Tripoli by visiting their office at KM 7 Gargaresh Road, Abu Nawas, P.O. Box 12508, Tripoli or calling their hotline number (+218) 918244208; telephone number (+218-21) 483-3966; and the e-mail addresses: tripoli.pe@gmail.com; tripoli.pe@dfa.gov.ph.

The voluntary repatriation program was initiated by the DFA after it raised Crisis Alert Level 3 in Libya.

DFA records show that there are around 13,000 Filipinos living and working in Libya. (Sunnex)
