THE Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) raised Tuesday Crisis Alert Level 3 in Afghanistan amid the heightened tensions stemming from the conduct of their presidential elections last June 14.

In a statement, the DFA said the voluntary repatriation phase is already being raised by the government in Afghanistan.

"Alert Level 3 is declared when violent disturbances or external aggression occurs in a limited area of a country," said the DFA.

With the decision, the department said Filipinos in Afghanistan are strongly encouraged to volunteer to return to the Philippines immediately.

The Philippine Government, the DFA added, will be implementing a total ban on the deployment of overseas Filipino workers to Afghanistan.

"The DFA continues to monitor the political and security developments in Afghanistan," said the DFA. (HDT/Sunnex)
