THE health condition of detained lawyer Jessica Lucila "Gigi" Reyes is improving, said the medical bulletin issued Friday by her doctors at the Taguig-Pateros District Hospital (TPDH).

"Reyes no longer complains headache and palpitation, and back pains have lessened," the bulletin read.

However, the document said the lawyer still lacked the appetite to eat and experience dizziness when she walks.

Reyes was rushed to the Taguig hospital early morning Thursday after suffering a panic attack, two hours after she was transferred to Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Female Dormitory in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City from the Sandiganbayan temporary jail.

Reyes' lawyer Anacleto Diaz earlier said her transfer triggered his client's panic attack, as the Taguig jail facility houses suspected New People's Army (NPA) members who are critical of those personalities involved in the pork barrel fund scam.

Due to her medical condition, the Sandiganbayan third division deferred Reyes’ arraignment originally set Friday. Same division handles her urgent motion to be transferred to the Philippine National Police custodial center in Camp Crame where two accused senators are detained.

Around 9 a.m. Friday, Reyes' blood pressure was recorded at 100/70 and Dr. Prudencio Sta. Lucia, TPDH director, said the detained lawyer will remain under observation.

The next medical update will be released at 9 a.m. Saturday.

Earlier this month, Reyes and Senate Minority Floor Leader Juan Ponce Enrile were ordered arrested by the Sandiganbayan third division on plunder charges over their alleged links in the alleged misuse of the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF).

Reyes was the former chief of staff of Enrile, who was accused of amassing million of pesos in kickbacks using his PDAF allocation. (Sunnex)
