'Glenda' enters PAR; Catanduanes under signal #1

MANILA -- The state weather bureau raised public storm warning signal number 1 over Catanduanes province, as the tropical storm east of Bicol entered the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) Sunday evening.

In its 11 p.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Tropical Storm Glenda (international name: Rammasun) was located at 940 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes as of 10 p.m.

Glenda has maintained its strength, with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph. Pagasa forecast the storm to move west at 30 kph.

The weather bureau said Glenda, the seventh tropical cyclone to enter PAR this year, will bring rains of 7.5–15 millimeters per hour (moderate - heavy) within its 400-kilometer diameter.

Pagasa said Glenda may make landfall over Quezon province by Wednesday, and it is expected to be at 400 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes by Monday evening.

On Tuesday evening, Pagasa said Glenda will be located 80 kilometers northeast of Daet, Camarines Norte or 190 kilometers east of Infanta, Quezon. It will be 150 kilometers northwest of Iba, Zambales by Wednesday evening.
