MANILA -- President Benigno Aquino III has declared July 29, Tuesday, a nationwide regular holiday in observance of Eid’l Fitr, or the end of Ramadhan.

The President made the announcement through Proclamation No. 826 on Monday.

Aquino said the entire Filipino nation should have the full opportunity to join their Muslim brothers and sisters in the observance and celebration of Eid’l Fitr.

“In order to bring the religious and cultural significance of the Eid’l Fitr to the fore of national consciousness, it is necessary to declare Tuesday, 29 July 2014, as a regular holiday throughout the country,” he said.
