Tuesday, July 22, 2014
THE Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) raised Tuesday crisis alert level 2 in Israel and the West Bank amid the continued escalation of security concerns buoyed by the Israel-Hamas conflict.
In a statement, the DFA said the "restriction phase" is already being raised in the area due to the spillover of the Gaza Strip tension.
"Alert level 2 is issued when there are real threats to the life, security, and property of Filipinos arising from internal disturbance, instability, and external threats," said the DFA.
With the development, the department said Filipinos are being instructed to restrict non-essential movements, avoid open spaces, and prepare for evacuation.
"The DFA continues to closely monitor developments in the Israel-Hamas conflict," said the DFA.
Records show that there are about 36,400 Filipinos in Israel and 113 Filipinos in the West Bank.
It should be noted that crisis alert level 4 has already been raised in the Gaza Strip.
The Philippine government is already imposing a mandatory repatriation of Filipino nationals from Gaza. (Sunnex)
