Thursday, July 24, 2014
THE Philippine National Police (PNP) will install an assistance center in Marikina City from July 24 to 27 to facilitate the processing of License To Own and Possess Firearm (LTOPF).
PNP Public Information chief Superintendent Reuben Theodore Sindac said the PNP through this caravan encourages the holders and owners of illegal and unregistered firearms to have their guns registered.
The LTOPF caravan will be provided on site during the Philippine Practical Shooting Association National Capital Region Championship, or the 14th Demetrio "Bolo" Tuason Cup, which will be attended by over 500 practical shooters and personalities.
Sindac said the caravan will be an initial step for planned nationwide gun amnesty.
"This is to help facilitate the processing for the application of LTOPF and extend our frontline services closer to the people," he said.
He said that aside from the caravan, personnel of the Firearms and Explosives Office headed by Chief Superintendent Virgilio Lazo will be going to the provinces to receive the application for gun licenses.
The first scheduled caravan will be from September 2 to 4 for gun owners in the Caraga Region. It will be held at Camp Rodriguez in Libertad, Butuan City. (Sunnex)
