MALACANANG said Friday that those who will attend President Benigno Aquino III's 5th State of the Nation Address (Sona) next week can wear any color that they want.
Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte made the statement amid possibilities that supporters and even critics of the President might use the occasion on Monday to express their political sentiment.
"Malaya naman lahat. Everyone is free to wear the color that would flatter their figures, let’s put it at that," she said in a media briefing.
Aquino recently said in a forum that if the people still support his administration, they could wear yellow ribbons.
After he made such statement, the President's critics urged the people to wear peach ribbons as their expression of support on the impeachment complaints against Aquino.
In a recent rally of the employees of the judiciary, they wore black ribbons.
The Aquino administration is being rocked by controversy involving the Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP), whose certain parts were declared as unconstitutional by the Supreme Court.
At least three impeachment complaints have already been filed against Aquino before the House of Representatives in relation to SC's ruling on DAP and on the defense deal between the Philippines and the United States. (SDR/Sunnex)
