BOC short in meeting collection target in 2014

THE Bureau of Customs (BOC) has failed to achieve its full-year revenue target collections in 2014.

According to the Bureau of Treasury, the BOC posted revenues of P369.314 billion from January to December, up 21.1 percent versus 2013 total collection.

THE Sandiganbayan junked Thursday with finality detained Senator Jose "Jinggoy" Estrada's motion to block the admission of Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) report as evidence of the prosecution for his plunder and graft cases with regard to the pork barrel fund scam.

In a resolution, the Sandiganbayan fifth division said Estrada's motion for reconsideration lacked merit.

Palace: Military banking on MILF in neutralizing JIM

MALACANANG said Thursday that the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is banking on the help of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) in neutralizing an alleged breakaway group of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF).

Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said that the AFP continues to coordinate with the MILF, not only in pursuing the BIFF, a splinter group of the MILF, but also the Justice Islamic Movement (JIM).
