Visayas lawmakers reiterate support for Aquino-A A +A

THIRTY-THREE lawmakers from the Visayas region passed a resolution reiterating their support for President Benigno Aquino III, who is facing three separate impeachment complaints at the House of Representatives.
The lawmakers led by Alfredo Benitez (Negros Occidental) and Jerry Trenas (Iloilo City) expressed their gratitude for the "massive reforms" initiated by the Aquino administration, particularly in combating corruption, promoting good governance and instituting full transparency.
"We believe in the programs of President Aquino that gave life to his vision of engaging the national government in sound fiscal management which empowered our government agencies and instrumentalities to implement key projects and to deliver urgently needed aid to our citizens," Benitez said on behalf of the group.
The lawmakers said numerous projects for their constituents have been implemented through the initiative and effective budgetary management of Aquino.
"We value the programs of the president directed to enhance commerce, tourism, infrastructure, development and the delivery of basic services in our congressional districts in the Visayas," he added.
They also affirmed their commitment "to the strategic vision and framework for economic development” of the Aquino government.
Benitez said that they have full confidence in Aquino's determined bid to "shepherd our people towards the bright promise of a peaceful and prosperous nation through his unswerving dedication to trekking the path of tuwid na daan."
The resolution was also signed by Pedro Acharon Jr. (South Cotabato), Mercedez Alvarez (Negros Occidental), George Arnaiz (Negros Oriental), Wilfredo Caminero (Cebu), Fredenil Castro (Capiz), Sonny Collantes (Batangas), Leo Rafael Cueva (Negros Occidental), Arthur Defensor Jr. (Iloilo), Antonio del Rosario (Capiz), Joseph Durano (Cebu), Ben Evardone (Eastern Samar), Sharon Garin (AAMBIS_OWWA), Oscar Garin Jr. (Iloilo), Lucy Torres-Gomez (Leyte), Arcadio Gorriceta (Iloilo), Teodorico Haresco Jr. (Aklan), Paolo Javier (Antique), Evelio Leonardia (Bacolod City), Damian Mercado (Southern Leyte), Alejandro Mirasol (Negros Occidental), JC Rahman Nava (Guimaras), Pablo Roces Nava III (APPEND Partylist), Joseph Stephen Paduano (Abang Lingkod), Marie Anne Pernes (Siquijor), Gabriel Luis Quisumbing (Cebu), Rene Relampagos (Bohol), Regina Ongsiako Reyes (Marinduque), Benhur Salimbangon (Cebu), Pryde Henry Teves (Negros Oriental), and Mel Senen Sarmiento (Samar).
The party-list bloc composed of at least 40 legislators has also vowed to pass a resolution rejecting the impeachment against the President.
The impeachment complaints, which were endorsed by lawmakers from the Makabayan bloc, accused Aquino of betrayal of public trust and culpable violation of the Constitution in connection with the implementation of the Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP) and the Enhanced Defense Coordination Agreement (EDCA).
