Pagasa: Good weather to prevail in PH-A A +A
Sunday, August 10, 2014
MANILA -- Most parts of the country will continue to experience good weather in the next three days, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Sunday.
In an interview, Pagasa weather forecaster Meno Mendoza said that except in extreme northern Luzon, most parts of the country, including Metro Manila, will have sunny to partly cloudy skies with possible afternoon or evening rains due to localized thunderstorms.
Mendoza said the islands of Batanes, Calayan and Babuyan will experience occasional rains due to the effects of the southwest monsoon or "hanging habagat" affecting northern Luzon.
Hanging habagat is the prevailing wind system during the rainy season.
The weather forecaster said the southwest monsoon is expected to weaken temporarily and will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with chances of isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms in the entire country.
No tropical cyclone is expected to affect the Philippines until Wednesday, Mendoza added. (PNA/Sunnex)
