JUSTICE Secretary Leila de Lima fearlessly took the viral ice bucket challenge on a rainy Tuesday afternoon.
Wearing her work clothes and in slippers, de Lima was doused with two buckets of ice cold water by her security men to the delight of her employees and members of the press. Some employees even shrieked.
"I love challenges especially for a worthy cause. Many have accepted the challenge all over the globe. That's why I encourage others to do it as well," said the Justice chief, who nominated Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, Iloilo Representative Niel Tupas Jr. and rehabilitation czar Panfilo Lacson.
De Lima accepted the challenge from broadcaster Anthony Taberna, who also convinced Bureau of Internal Revenue Commissioner (BIR) Kim Henares to do the same.
De Lima will donate $100 to the ALS Association, which has raised nearly $80 million to fight the amyotrophic lateral sclerosis since the popular dare started last month.
ALS, sometimes called as Lou Gehrig's disease, attacks nerve cells that leads to paralysis and death. (Sunnex)
