A 44-YEAR-OLD fisherman in Cotabato City was in critical condition on Friday after being attacked by a needlefish, locally known as "balo".

Television reports said the needlefish leapt out the water and hit the chest of the fisherman identified as Alim Imping.

The long snout of the needlefish pierced through Imping's body.

The victim's companions immediately rushed the fisherman to the Cotabato Regional Medical Center to take off the snout. (Sunnex)
