Tokyo again wants Olympics to heal national crisis

Leaders of the Tokyo 2020 bid used their one official campaign event during the London Olympics to compare the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami with the devastation of Japan during World War II.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) raised the storm warning signal over the provinces of Isabela and Cagayan, including Calayan, Babuyan, and Batanes Group of Island, as Tropical Storm "Gener" moves north northwest of Luzon at 15 kilometers per hour (kph).

The plebiscite started around 7 a.m. after all the ballots were delivered to around 79 clustered precincts at the Guadalupe Elementary School. The voting was closed around 3 p.m.
LPA develops into Tropical Depression 'Gener'
Saturday, July 28, 2012 - 11:10 a.m.MANILA (Updated 11:10 a.m.) -- The state weather bureau said the active low pressure area northeast of Borongan, Eastern Samar, has developed into tropical depression named "Gener."
At 10 a.m. Saturday, Gener was monitored 250 kilometers (km) east of Virac Catanduanes, moving at a speed of 55 kilometers per hour in a north northwest direction towards Casiguran, Aurora.
