Aquino to grace naming of Hanjin ships

MANILA -- President Benigno Aquino will grace Thursday the blessing of two bulk carriers built by Korean shipbuilder Hanjin Heavy Industries at Subic Freeport Zone in Zambales.
India's Adani Shipping PTE. Ltd. owned the two vessels.
Adani managing director Rajesh Adani, Hanjin Chairman NH Cho, SFZ Chief Operating Officer Armand Areza, and several provincial officials will welcome the Aquino during the event.
The vessels, both have 175,000 dead-weight ton (DWT), 289-meter overall length and a registered length of 279.98 meters.
Gross tonnage of each carrier is 91,829 ton while the net tonnage is 59.082 tons.
Hanjin Heavy Industries is the world's fourth largest shipbuilding facility. It started operations in the Philippines in 2006 with an initial investment of $721 million.
It has recently shifted to full-scale operation at its Subic shipyard after completing its facility expansion program in 2009. (Jill Beltran/PR/Sunnex)
