Aquino in Japan today for APEC Summit

TOKYO -- President Benigno Aquino III will arrive here today (Thursday) as he is set to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Yokohama this weekend.
Aquino is scheduled to the depart Manila at 2:50 p.m. via Philippine Airlines flight 432 and will arrive at Narita Airport here around 8 p.m. He will stay overnight in Tokyo.
Tomorrow (Friday), he will meet with several business officials at his hotel before proceeding to Yokohama to participate in the APEC chief executive officer’s summit in the afternoon.
On Saturday, he will be meeting world leaders from 21 countries including the United States as he participates in the 18th APEC Economic Leaders Meeting with theme “Change and Action”.
APEC is the premier forum for facilitating economic growth, cooperation, trade and investment in the Asia-Pacific region. It has 21 member countries including Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, US and Vietnam. (Jill Beltran/Sunnex)
