‘Bishops fail to handle RH issue’

MANILA -- Advocates of the controversial reproductive health bill turned back on the Catholic Church on Monday after some priests reportedly expressed their willingness to be imprisoned if the bill will be enacted.
Ramon San Pascual, executive director of the Philippine the Philippine Legislators Committee on Population and Development (PLCPD), told Sun.Star that the bishops should not resort to “lies and threats” to sway the growing number of Filipinos from supporting the measure.
“Catholic bishops don’t seem to know how to handle the inevitable passage of RH bill. On one hand, they want to push through the dialogue with P-Noy, yet they are urging Catholics to prepare for head-on clash with the RH advocates. As religious leaders, these few bishops must be more responsible and avoid agitating the public by their lies and threats,” he said. (Virgil Lopez/Sunnex)
