Legislator wants buses along Edsa banned

MANILA -- Days after the number-coding scheme on buses was implemented by the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA), a lawmaker is calling for the total ban of buses along Edsa instead.
Northern Samar Representative Emil Ong called for the ban of buses and the abolition of all bus terminals along the highway not only to ease traffic, but also to address the worsening problem on air population.
Ong proposed that for buses coming from the south, the terminals should be located before entering Edsa while those coming from the north, the terminals should be located outside of Edsa.
He said he had already brought this idea during the time of MMDA chairman Bayani Fernando.
“LTO (Land Transportation Office) is not really strict on the implementation of the smoke emission test. So my suggestion really would be a total ban on buses entering Edsa. They should stay on their designated terminals so that they can reduce their transportation charges," Ong stressed. (Kathrina
