MANILA -- The Palace clarified Sunday that there is no deployment ban to South Korea amid military tension in the Korean Peninsula.

Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said the labor department only deferred the departure of about 50 Overseas Filipino Workers set to fly to Korea this week.

“The deferment is only for this week. It will not affect others who will be going to Korea for the entire December,” she assured.

The Palace issued the statement following reports that the Philippines has issued deployment ban against South Korea.

Valte said the deferment was only for the security measures for the OFWs while the Philippines is assessing the situation in Korea. (Jill Beltran/Sunnex)
