Nueva Ecija police chief shot dead

A POLICE chief in Talavera town in Nueva Ecija province was shot dead Saturday night.

A television report said Sunday that Police Superintendent Ricardo Dayag Jr., 47, was shot several times by his deputy, Police Inspector Bernardo Castro, around 9 p.m.

The two reportedly engaged in a heated argument before the incident happened outside the police station.

Castro was drunk at the time of the incident. He used a 9mm pistol in shooting Dayag.

He surrendered to authorities and is now detained in Camp Olivas in Pampanga province.

Investigation is still ongoing. (Sunnex)
