Palace keen on probing ‘anomalies’ in PNP

MANILA -- Malacanang is willing to investigate the alleged anomalies in the fund of Philippine National Police (PNP) should there be enough evidence to prove it.
“If there really is (irregularity), we will certainly order an investigation,” Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said Thursday.
Senator Panfilo Lacson, who is a former PNP chief, revealed that the PNP has its own version of the welcome and send-off gifts tradition.
Valte said the government will vouch for support for the investigation especially if there are people who will come out to back the claims of the fugitive senator.
She said the congressional hearing on the anomalies in the Armed Forces is different since there are whistleblowers who are willing to testify on the issue.
The Palace official added it would be better to wait for Lacson’s affidavit, which he promised to make to formalize his claims against the PNP. (Jill Beltran/Sunnex)
