MANILA – The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) assured that the Philippines can possibly host the Asian Beach Games on 2013, even if it means breaking the event's two year cycle.
The development came after OCA President Sheikh Ahmad Al Fahad Al Sabah talked with Philippine Olympic Committee president Jose “Peping” Cojuangco Jr. in a brief meeting in Guangzhou, China.
The country is currently seeing action in the southern Chinese city for the 16th Asian Games.
“The Sheikh was very kind in allowing us to host the Asian Beach Games on 2013 should we feel we are ready,” Cojuangco said.
POC officials said they will immediately survey the candidate beach fronts in the country and determine the capability to host the newest addition to Asian sports gatherings. (Virgil Lopez/Sunnex)
