MANILA -- The Philippine Red Cross on Friday said it is now prepared to ensure the provision of first aid, health and welfare services to individuals that may be affected by any election-related violence come October 25.
“As an auxiliary arm of the government, PRC is mandated to provide health and welfare services to the Filipino people in times of natural disasters and human-induced emergencies to include armed conflict and other situations of violence,” said PRC chairman Richard Gordon.
Under its Election Preparedness Plan, the PRC will provide first aid management, health care, and welfare assistance. Other services include ambulance service, provision of blood, and other emergency and humanitarian assistance.
The PRC said its Disaster Management Service and Safety Service will be activated 24/7 to monitor the situation as well as the deployment of Emergency Response Teams in case of election-related incidents. (Virgil Lopez/Sunnex)
