Davao: Slay try on poll bet triggered by rivalry (9:30 p.m.)
DAVAO–An attempt on the life of a barangay captain aspirant in Tagum City could have been triggered by a long-standing family feud, initial investigation by the police revealed.
But the regional police force is still on the hunt for the suspect.
The victim, identified as Israel Maug–who ran for barangay captain in Bincungan, Tagum City, was allegedly shot by his brother and political rival, Jaime Maug, on Sunday, the eve of the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.
Police said Israel was on board his vehicle when his brother fired at him.
Charges of attempted murder are to be filed by the victim against his brother anytime from now. (CPM of Sun.star Davao)
