Group warns of another people power revolt (6:45 p.m.)

MANILA–Council of Philippine Affairs (Copa) leader Pastro Saycon, one of the convenors of the newly created No Pardon for Erap (NOPE), on Tuesday gave President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo until the first quarter next year to institute reforms or be ousted in yet another people power revolt.

In an interview in Makati where he led a protest against the granting of a presidential pardon by Arroyo to convicted plunderer former President Joseph Estrada, Saycon said the Arroyo administration should stop thinking about reconciliation between her party and the other political parties.

A leading figure among civil society groups, Saycon also figured in the alleged plot to oust Arroyo in February 2006 in a Rightist-Leftist move although he was not charged with any offense.
Several civil society groups, including the Black and White Movement (BWM), which counts among its members the 10 resigned former Cabinet officials of Arroyo, has also called on the President to implement reforms and even resign from her post. (AH/Sunnex)
