Dureza makes ‘debut’ in Cebu (2:29 p.m.)

MANILA — A month before he formally assumes his new post, incoming press secretary and presidential spokesman Jesus Dureza has started discharging his duties in Cebu.

Presidential Management Staff (PMS) head Cerge Remonde said Saturday Dureza made the “discharging” of duties as press secretary during a function in Cebu last Friday.

“I introduced him to the local media as the incoming press secretary. He declared that as press secretary he will conduct regular dialogues with the community press,” Remonde said.

Remonde was in Cebu Friday to brief government and non-government agencies and sectors on President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s priority programs.

He also said during Friday’s event, Dureza rendered a report on the peace process.

Dureza, who will take over from Ignacio Bunye on July 3, will yield his post as presidential peace process adviser to former Armed Forces Chief Hermogenes Esperon Jr. June 16. (JMR/Sunnex)
