More jobs for Filipinos in Saskatchewan (11:33 a.m.)

MANILA — More job opportunities await about 5,000 to 12,000 Filipinos in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan in the next five years.

The province’s economy, an official says, is booming.

Saskatchewan, which is situated in western Canada, is the fastest growing province in North America.

Its major industries in mining, services, agriculture and livestock are picking up the slack from neighboring Canadian federal states.

Saskatchewan Minister for Employment and Labor Rob Norris said they are now promoting the province as a new labor destination to sustain its booming economy.

Norris said his government has met recently with the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) and other government officials to review the memorandum of agreement signed previously between Saswatchewan and the Philippines. (ECV/Sunnex)

  1. Dear Loreen,

I am replying to your article noted 11:33 a.m. May 28, 2008. Would it be possible for you to determine on my behalf the time it should take for the Canadian employer to obtain the LMO (labour martket opinion) in Saskatchewan.
I have been offered a job and in fact signed the labour contract with a Canadian employer in saskatchewan who has now been told it would take 10-15 weeks to obtain when in fact all the Canadian government website information states it should only take 15 business days.

    Kind regards,
    Stuart Marsh
