PLDT fiber optic line breaks; VisMin regions affected (5:32 p.m.)
THE digital fiber optic network of Philippine Long Distance Company (PLDT) that has been serving the Visayas and Mindanao regions was damaged, causing outage in mobile and Internet services.
Reports said Smart Communications services, including its wireless service Smart Bro, were also disrupted due to the fiber optic line break.
Business companies in the regions, including banks and government agencies, have temporarily stopped transactions due to the disruption.
PLDT, as of 5 p.m. Wednesday, has not yet explained what caused the damage. (Sunnex)
