Pope prays for victims of ferry sinking
ROME — Pope Benedict XVI says he is praying for the victims of a ferry disaster caused by Typhoon Fengshen in the Philippines.
Benedict told pilgrims in St. Peter’s Square on Sunday that he learned with great sorrow about the tragedy, especially the fact that many children were feared to be among the victims.
He said he felt spiritually close to all those hit by the yphoon, which has killed more than 150 people, not counting those aboard the ferry.
The few survivors from the boat said hundreds of people might have died, trapped inside the capsized ferry. (AP)
