Bunye set for monetary board position (11:58 a.m.)

MANILA - Presidential spokesman and political adviser Ignacio Bunye would go on an indefinite leave from the Lakas Christian Muslim Democrats starting June 30.

The leave, he said, is in preparation for his new job as director of the Monetary Board under the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).

Bunye stepped down last June 16 as press secretary after a six-year stint.

“I will divest myself of shares in any financial institution which would fall under the supervision of the Bangko Sentral,” he said.

Bunye will assume his new responsibility on July 3. “Starting July 3, which coincides with the founding anniversary of the BSP, I will assume my new responsibility as a member of the Monetary Board, a full-time position,” he said.

As one of the directors, Bunye will set monetary policies and supervise financial institutions. (JMR/Sunnex)
