‘Frank’ kills 315 (11:25 a.m.)
MANILA — The National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) has revealed that 315 persons have perished after Typhoon Frank (Fengshen) ravaged the country. Only 121 bodies have been identified so far.
Majority of the dead were in Iloilo, with 159 bodies recovered. The province recently experienced the worst flooding in years.
Forty-five remain missing in typhoon-stricken regions and 165 were counted as injured.
NDCC has requested about P8.310 million in relief assistance. This is inclusive of P5.337 million in relief items and P2.972 million in operational needs. (Sunnex)
