  1. A tragedy that need not happened but because of greed and arrogance, so many lives are lost. My brother Domino Omega is one of the passengers, he is still missing. The Philippine Coast Guard and the Captain played Russian Roulette with those peoples lives. According to the law, when someone take another person’s life that person is called a murderer. So those involved with making a decision to let the vessel go and calling “Abandon Ship” too late are murderers. Don’t blame the typhoon for the loss of life cause it could have been prevented had the captain listened to the pleas of the passengers to go somewhere else while the storm is brewing. But he thought that the ship was invincible!!!!What anguish it has caused for their loved ones.

  2. sana bago yung lahat na mga barko natin dito sa pilipinas upang maiwasan ang disgrasya kc kawawa namang ang mga pasahiro sana bago ipa biyahi yung mga barko kailangan langing chinichick yung makina tapos kahit low presure area lang hindi ipa biyahi ang mga barko, we well pray for the pasenger of the boat prences of the star.managot nito ang kay langang managot dahil maraming buhay ang nasawi.

  3. Condolence to all the families that who have lost their loves ones…Your in my thoughts & prayers….

  5. I can imagine the grief, upset and anger felt by the relatives of the victims of the sunken ferry, my heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family and friends of the victims. I hope that Sulpicio Lines and the Phil. Coast Guard will at last(!!) learn it’s lesson. Also, I hope that Pres. Arroyo will amend the maritime law which is to prohibit any vessel to sail when typhoon signal number one is declared or any tropical depression. It involves so many lives, precious lives…family breadwinners, husbands, wives, parents, grandparents, children, brothers and sisters, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends…their loss are so painful!!! For the bereaved families and relatives, be strong enough to face the bitter truth. Money can’t replace your love-ones but you have to fight for your rights. You should see to it that Sulpicio Lines will pay what is due for you. If there’s a need for it, unite yourself and take a lawyer to represent your case. I’ll pray for your ill-fated love ones and may their soul rest in peace.

  6. “Those who do not learn from the lessons of history are bound to repeat its mistakes.” INVOLVED PERSONNEL IN THE ILL-FATED PRINCESS OF THE STARS…

  10. as always, there are more questions than answers. these are just a few:

    (1) is it true that a superferry, which sailed at 5:30pm friday 6/20/2008 (& probably could’ve out-ran ‘frank’), had sought shelter somewhere in bantangas, while the princess of the stars, which left at 8pm friday 6/20/2008, or 2 & a half hours later than the superferry, continued on until it was inevitably caught by ‘frank’ off sibuyan? if yes, why did the captain of the princess of the stars decide to proceed?

    (2) is it true that the princess of the stars’ engine stopped & was ‘dead at sea’ as officially reported by the port captain per their ‘private’ celfon conversation(?) with the ship’s captain OR that the engine was fine as officially reported, under oath, by the sulpicio lines owner during the bmi inquiry?

    (3) who should we thank for the global maritime distress safety system (gmdss) equipment that pcg spokesman armand balilo claims is rotting in some container somewhere because the supplier did not provide the software because there was a problem with the bidding? is it true that filipino tax payers are still paying for this equipment???

my father VICENTE DIONALDO was aboard the princess of the stars. the life of my family, & most especially my mom, has needlessly been destroyed! our loss, my dad, is irreplaceable. somebody is going to be held accountable … and it’s not God.

  16. Ang hindi ko maintindihan bakit pina-alis ang barko at ganyan ang decision ng Philippine Coastguard at ng captain sa m/v princess of the stars.Hay nako Pinas kong hindi overloaded, bagyo and etc…etc…Sana may action sana before pang-apat na to eh.Kasi they’re not paying from their own pocket; it’s the problem of the insurance. Our condolences to the bereaved families and friends of the vctims.

  17. To all who have lost their loved ones… your loss is shared by many friends who care and that you’re in our thoughts and hearts and in our every prayer. It is not going to be easy, but trust in Him.

  19. Sa lahat ng mga pamilya nasawian we will pray for you. May God Bless you all. We feel for you - masakit pero wala na tayong magagawa ang dios nalang ang bahala at ang mga kaluluwa sana magkaisa para usugin ang lahat na responsable sa trahedyang ito.

  20. Jessie James Batulan is one of the passengers of the ill-fated Princess of the Stars…he was my client who just get married recently last January 5, 2008…

The news saddened us all when we read from the newspapers his name… I was going to bohol that time for another client getting married and having our pre nuptial shoot in bohol, while reading the news paper, there i saw his name…I call all my friends coz they didnt know, when i reach cebu i immediately call his family and confirm the news…until now he’s missing…were hoping and praying he is safe…

Even in a short period of time, as their wedding planner he became a good friend to us…

Im praying that he is still alive…and to all still missing passengers…

    My Prayers…

  27. TO THE OWNERS / MANAGEMENT OF SULPICIO LINES INC

HOW MANY MORE LIVES WILL BE LOST AT SEA BEFORE YOU ADMIT THAT YOUR COMPANY IS NOT UP TO STANDARD???

AND TO THINK WHAT HAPPENED TO THE “PRINCESS OF THE STARS” WAS NOT THE ONLY AND FIRST OF YOUR SHIPPING TRAGEDIES.

WHAT WOULD BE THE COURSE OF YOUR ACTIONS IF THOSE CASUALTIES WERE MEMBERS OF YOUR FAMILY???

MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO ALL FAMILIES WHO LOST THEIR LOVE ONES, RELATIVES, & FRIENDS WHO WERE PASSENGERS ON THE “PRINCESS OF THE STARS”. MAY YOU FIND COMFORT IN YOUR SORROW.

  28. the tragedy was ended very shameful to us mariners, Roro vessels has a tendency to sink within minutes if sea water can penetrate inside the vessels hold. it has a tremendous free surface effect. the coastguard should also check the stability before departure especially that the path of the storm is very near the course of the vessel. Ballast Tanks, should be filled up to avoid free surface effect, ballasting during rough sea is quite dangerous,Lashings of cargo should also be checked and properly secured , this is one factor also of the big list of the vessel once the cargoes started to shift. Storm should not be taken for granted , human factor can contribute a lot to accident.

  29. This is a poem I found written anonymously. I wanted to share this to all the families who lost their loved ones. It has been two weeks, my brother Domino Omega is still missing.

Do not stand by my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow
I am a diamond glint on snow
I am the gentle Autumn rain.

When you awake in the morning hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight
I am the soft star shine at night
Do not stand by my grave and cry
I am not there… I did not die.

I know how much it hurts when we lose someone we love, we are never the same for there is a hollowness, an emptiness in our hearts; that only they can fill. Their memories live on with the beauty of nature that surrounds us. We have to carry on and live our lives honoring them with the goodness that they possessed. Share the things they were passionate about. Love their children, parents, siblings and friends. Live in the present, find eternity in each moment, celebrate life.

  30. The Princess of Star Tragedy is an event that shows how inefficient people can be. Before a vessel is allowed to leave port, it incumbent for port authorities, the coast guard, the marina and most specially the staff of the vessel company to make sure the everything is safe and sea worthy and the weather condition will allow a safe travel. Possibly because of the fear of added expense such as overnight boarding of the passengers and crew of the vessel may have leading to the possible bribing of authorities to let go of the vessel to its scheduled trip. The vessel owners took time before they reacted positively to aid the families and victims. The Family members of the victims were shooed out of their office like dogs. Instead they could have given a better accomadation and reception while waiting for the news of the plight of they victim kins. These kind of public utility providers should not be allowed anymore to continue with the kind of business where human life is at stake. They all deserve to be in jail to pay for the sufferings they created because of their misdoings. Palagi nlang sa huli and pagsisisi at puro sisihan! Lahat nag hugas kamay! If only enforcers will care enough for their fellow human beings and strictly enforce the law and set procedures instead of finding a way to circumvent them for a fee, only then can we say that we are all in safe hands.

  31. ISANG TANONG LANG AT SANA ISANG SAGOT LANG ANG IBIGAY!

BAKIT NAMAN SA LAKI NG BARKO, LAKI NG KUMPANYANG SULPICIO AT SA DAMI NG CREW AT OFFICERS NG BARKO AY WALANG FIRE AND SAFETY OFFICER NA SUMAMA?

MAARI KAYA ANG SAFETY OFFICER AY NAG PLAY SAFE AT DI SUMAMA OR WALA TALAGANG SAFETY OFFICER.

  32. my heart is bleeding for all those whom we called victim of this tragedy. but my final say is that, death is like a thief in the night no one knows when our time will come! just one lesson to be learned each one must be spiritually prepared coz just a blink of an eye anything can happen,,, hu! hu! hu! We must not boast of material thing we have now coz our life is just temporary . when we die all we have is just a piece of torn cloth clad in our cold body …but anyway smile JESUS LOVES US!!!!!!

  33. God loves us!!!Somehow this quote seems questionable for those in bereavement brought by this tragic incident.Human as we are, this feeling is inevitable.Added with the fact that it was partly human’s error,we can’t hide the sheer pain, sorrow and hatred for this fate that should have been avoided if the management of mv princes of star took heed to weather forecast of the typhoon frank . But then, it had happened. And what we can do now the most is to pray for the families of the victims to gain consolation and may they will be given what is due to them.I believe there are responsible people for this.May you are brave enough to substantiate your deeds rather than to keep on pointing one another. To Sulpicio Lines, you have been to a lot of sea accidents, haven’t you learned? Many lives have been shattered. Please help in all you can to recover those bodies that are still inside the vessel or extend any sort of assistance to the families whose loved ones are lost due to this accident.
And my prayers for all the families affected///

    GOD BLESS US ALL!!!

  34. This tragic accident is just a proof that Sulpicio Lines Inc. never, ever learned a valuable lesson from their previous maritime accidents. Yet, the Coast Guards and the PHilippines Port Authorities are equally to be blamed. Added to the chaos of search and rescue operations, the company seems to have NO EXPERIENCE whatsoever in crisis management of sort! What the management can afford to say is that: P200,000 is to be paid for each human casualty, that’s all! Cheap!

  35. damn sulpicio

  36. Condolence to all the families that lost their loves ones…your all in our thoughts & prayers….especially or loving friends …

  37. Condolence to all the families that lost their loves ones…your all in our thoughts & prayers….especially or loving classmates Lorna Teopiz Contreras family…
