Arroyo arrives; tests airport terminal (11:29 a.m.)

MANILA — President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo arrived from her 10-day visit before dawn Monday at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) Terminal 3 leading the “dry run” for the operation of the controversial terminal.

On board Philippine Airlines (PAL) Commercial Flight 105, the President, accompanied by First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo and Presidential son, Camarines Sur Representative Diosdado Ignacio Arroyo his wife Viktoria and children Evie and Diggie, arrived at Terminal 3, a little before 3 a.m.

Also with the President were several lawmakers led by Deputy Speaker Amelita Villarosa and Cabinet members Finance Secretary Margarito Teves, Budget Secretary Rolando Andaya Jr., Press Secretary Jesus Dureza, Trade Secretary Peter Favila and outgoing Presidential spokesman and Political Adviser Ignacio Bunye.

The President, who entered through Bay 116 was accorded arrival honors by the Philippine Air Force Honor Guards and greeted by Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita, Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro Transportation and Communication Secretary Leandro Mendoza, Manila International Airport Authority (Miaa) general manager Alfonso Cusi, Miaa assistant general manager for security Angel Atutubo and Task Force Naia-3 chief Michael Defensor.
