C-130 wreckage finally located (10:29 a.m.)

DAVAO CITY — The wreckage of the ill-fated C-130 Hercules plane that crashed into the Davao Gulf on August 25 was finally located by the US Navy ship John McDonnel Thursday evening.
Reports from the Eastern Mindanao Command showed that the wreckage was located at coordinates latitude 07 degrees 4.01 miles north, longitude 125 degrees 38 miles east or approximately 1.3 nautical miles east of Barangay Bucana.
The wreckage is said to be lying at a depth of 130 meters or about 426 feet below the water.
As of this writing, the US ship is still collating all the data as other major parts of the plane has also been detected in the seabed of the Davao Gulf.
The discovery came after almost five days of search by the US ship and almost two weeks by the Philippine authorities. (Sun.Star Davao)
