Tesco withdraws Chinese candies amid milk scare (5:35 p.m.)

LONDON — Britain’s biggest supermarket chain Tesco said it is withdrawing a brand of Chinese candies from its shelves amid the milk poison scare rocking China.

Tesco said it has no evidence that the White Rabbit candies were tainted. However, it said in a statement Wednesday that the candies are being taken off the shelves as a precaution.

The candies are sold in a small number of British stores as part of the supermarket’s ethnic range. (AP)
