Arroyo cancels Cabinet meeting in eastern Samar (6:55 p.m.)
MANILA - President Glorica Macapagal-Arroyo cancelled most of her schedules in eastern Samar Tuesday including the National Economic Development Authority-Cabinet group meeting in Guiuan due to tropical storm Pablo.
Other than the cabinet meeting, Arroyo was scheduled to visit the Arteche also in Eastern Samar to inaugurate the P86 million Catumsan-Aguinaldo farm-to-market road project.
She was set to conduct an aerial inspection of the construction and rehabilitation of several stretches of the Arteche road network project that will link Eastern, Western and Northern Samar provinces.
Arroyo was also supposed to visit Calicoan Island in Guiuan, where aside from the holding of the cabinet meeting there, she would endorse its promotion as a tourism destination.
Instead, the President only attended the 107th Balangiga Encounter Day commemoration celebration. She then proceeded to Tacloban City where she presided over the Regional Disaster and Coordinating Council (RDCC) meeting.
In a speech before the Balangiga residents, Arroyo said she decided to cancel the Cabinet meeting than risk the lives of her official family. (JMR/Sunnex)
