Unioil cuts prices by P2 (1:22 p.m.)

MANILA — Independent oil player Unioil Petroleum Philippines Incorporated (UPPI) on Thursday said it will roll back prices of diesel and kerosene sold in its retail outlets and service station by P2 per liter reflecting current slowdown in the prices of the commodity in the international market.

In a press conference at the company’s office in Sta. Ana, Manila, UPPI General Manager Chito Medina-Cue said the company will roll back diesel and kerosene prices starting 12:01 midnight on Friday.

“Unioil decided to roll back diesel and kerosene prices due to the continuing decline of prices in the international market and as part of the company’s commitment to sell to the consumers Unioil’s quality petroleum products and affordable prices,” Medina-Cue said.

“At the end of the day, Unioil is not only a company with its mission to sell petroleum products but also a company with conscience. We are all consumers here,” he added.

The company’s decision to cut only diesel and kerosene and not on gasoline according to the official was due to the fact that prices of the latter it sold are still way below the prices sold by other oil players. (AH/Sunnex)
