Buses in mishap may lose permit to operate (11:01 a.m.)
OPERATORS of the public utility buses involved in a pre-dawn accident along Epifanio De Los Santos Avenue (Edsa) might lose their franchises, the Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said Tuesday.
At least three buses collided at the northbound portion of Edsa near the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) station in Santolan Quezon City around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, hitting a Mercedes Benz sedan driven by Francisco Sarabia that caught fire.
Sarabia, brother of the owner of the Sarabia Optical Clinic, was the lone fatality in the accident.
Sarabia’s passenger, Henny Garcia, was injured and brought by responding rescue and emergency personnel to the East Avenue Medical Center for treatment.
Three others — Salvador de Guzman, Ligaya de Guzman, and Laurentino Bedino — were injured, according to police. (AH/Sunnex)
