Bolante: Arroyo is not involved (11:07 a.m.)
MANILA — Former Agriculture undersecretary Jocelyn “Joc-Joc” Bolante on Thursday told senators that President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is not involved in the P728 million fertilizer fund scam.
“The President has never been involved in this project,” said Bolante during his testimony at the Senate inquiry on the controversy.
According to the former agriculture official, the fertilizer fund project did not require the approval of President Arroyo.
The project, he said, was approved by the Department of Agriculture.
Bolante has finally appeared in the Senate Thursday. He arrived at the Senate session hall together with his lawyers. The Senate probe started at 9:50 a.m.
Bolante has been accused of being the architect of the fertilizer fund scam, which allegedly went to the campaign kitty of President Arroyo for the 2004 polls. (Sunnex)
