Rihanna-Chris Brown concert a success (3:41 p.m.)
MANILA — About 70,000 people trooped to The Fort Open Field in Taguig City to watch the Rihanna-Chris Brown back-to-back concert.
The successful Sunday night concert of the two R&B singers was staged by MTV Philippines. It was said to be the biggest concert event of the year.
Chris Brown performed some of his hit songs like “Forever,” “Kiss, Kiss” “Gimme That,” “Picture Perfect,” “Say Good Bye,” and “With You.” He also serenaded the audience with his chart-topping single with Jordan Sparks “No Air.”
For the second set, Rihanna struck the hordes of fans with a mesmerizing performance of her dance songs “Disturbia,” “Pon de Replay,” “Please Don’t Stop the Music,” “Break It Off,” and “Shut Up and Drive.”
She tugged at the audience’s hearts with her slow songs like “Unfaithful,” “Hate That I Love You” and “Rehab.”
Rihanna’s current most popular single in the country titled “Take a Bow” was the song she rendered for her encore act.
Before Rihanna finally bid goodbye, she surprised the crowd with her trademark song “Umbrella.”
Chris Brown then accompanied Rihanna on the stage and sung his remake of “Umbrella” dubbed “Cinderella.”
Some of the local celebrities who partied with the thousands of people during the concert were: couple Janno Gibbs and Bing Loyzaga with their two daughters; John Lloyd Cruz and Liz Uy; and Paolo Contis and Isabel Oli.
Also present were Karylle, Sam Milby, Vhong Navarro, Raymond Gutierrez, and Iza Calzado. (JRDB/Sunnex)
