Witness bares security officer was threatened (11:54 a.m.)

A WITNESS during the so-called Alabang Boys buy-bust operation on Monday said the security officers were threatened by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) agents at the time of the incident.

Alvin Ballares, head of external control security in Ayala Alabang village on September 19, 2008, revealed in a House Committee on Dangerous Drugs hearing that PDEA agent Jigger Juniller threatened a certain security officer Bautista while the former was allegedly holding suspect Jorge Joseph at gunpoint.

Juniller, while allegedly assaulting Joseph, told Bautista: “Wag kang makialam.”

Ballares also said Joseph did not fight back and asked Bautista to help him.

He also bared that Juniller identified himself as a PDEA agent.

Makati Representative Teodoro Locsin, however, pointed out that this was contrary to Joseph’s account, in which the suspect said Juniller did not identify himself.

Cavite Representative Elpidio Barzaga for his part, criticized Ballares for failing to write in his incident report that Juniller had found 60 tablets of ecstasy in his pocket.

Ballares said they did not file complaints against the PDEA agents.

“Natakot lang po kami,” he said. (Justine Paredes/Sunnex)
