AT LEAST 116 cops have been deployed in different areas in the city to expand police visibility to deter crime.
Councilor Ian Nacaya, chair of the City Council Committee on Police, Fire and Safety, said the deployment is an answer to his request for more police visibility as prevention against crime.

Earlier, Nacaya requested for 100 more police officers but Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) chief Benedicto Lopez, deployed 116 instead.
Nacaya said most of the police officers are on 24-hour patrol to help deter crimes.
With the deployment, Representative Rufus Rodriguez of the Cagayan de Oro’s second district has pledged to allocate P500,000 to upgrade the police’s communication equipment.
The allocation is in response to the problem on information relay among precincts, mobiles and special groups.
Aside from communication problems, the city police also needs fax machines and other equipment for its operation.
Nacaya hoped that crime would decrease with more police deployment in the city. (Nicole J. Managbanag)
