Arroyo in Oro for disaster meet

AFTER last week's visit to flood victims, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is again coming back to Cagayan de Oro for a meeting with disaster officials in the region.

The President's visit comes after flashfloods affected residents of Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental and other parts of Northern Mindanao, displacing thousands of families and destroying houses and crops.

President Arroyo will meet with the disaster councils in the region, the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) said.

In the meeting, the President is expected to receive disaster reports from different local officials whose areas are being hit by floods.

Arroyo is also scheduled to attend the blessing and opening of the Provincial Medical Center in Malaybalay City later in the day.

Along with Health Secretary Francisco Duque, she will tour the newly built hospital and inspect other infrastructures in the localities.

Arroyo was in Cagayan de Oro last week. She visited evacuation centers and led the distribution of relief goods and financial assistance to flood victims.
