Bambi out as admin congress bet: Oca

MIZAMIS Oriental Representative Yevgeny “Bambi” Emano will not be official candidate of the ruling Lakas-Kampi-CMD if he decides for reelection although he heads the party in his district.

This was according to Gov. Oscar Moreno, who announced over the weekend the initial list of the administration’s lineup in Misamis Oriental.
“I know that Bambi’s heart is with us pero dili pud dapat nga i-defy niya ang iyang amahan,” Gov. Moreno said in his radio program over the weekend. “Mangita pa mi kinsa kay murag lisod na kung si Bambi, although siya ang chairman sa Lakas sa second district pero tua nisuporta kang Erap ang iyang amahan. (Bambi can’t defy his father. We’ll have to look for replacement because if it’s him it may be difficult; although he’s the chairman of Lakas in the second district, his father is supporting former president Joseph Estrada.)

The governor was referring to Cagayan de Oro Vice Mayor Vicente Emano, leader of the indigenous Padayon Pilipino (PaDayon) party, who has already declared support for Estrada’s presidential bid.

The clash in political alliances between father and son has put the younger Emano in an uncomfortable position, the governor said, citing this as the main reason why the younger Emano can’t carry the administration party in his district.

Moreno, however, said he still believes that Bambi will keep his word by supporting Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro, the administration’s standard bearer in the 2010 election. Bambi assured his support for Teodoro in a gathering of administration stalwarts recently.

One of those being considered for Bambi’s replacement is former vice governor and Villanueva vice mayor Julio Uy, said Moreno.
The party, he said, is only waiting for Uy’s acceptance.

Meanwhile, Moreno said his lineup for the 2010 polls will still consist of same allies in the last elections. The list includes Provincial Board members Jimmy Caiña, Emmanuel Mugot, Santiago Sabal, Oliver Actub and Eduardo Ayunting.

Vice Governor Norris Babiera will still be Moreno’s running mate.

The governor also announced a partial list of mayors running under the administration banner.
