UNION GalvaSteel Corporation opens another roll forming plant in Cagayan de Oro today to cater to clients from key cities and provinces in Northern Mindanao, including Dipolog City.
Arthur M. Florendo, the corporation's president, announced this endeavor to boost economic upsurge of the steel industry after seeing rapid growth of developments in the city as Ayala investments are coming in while the LimKetKais continue to expand.
The 2,100-square-meter plant at Malasag road in Barangay Cugman is another P13-million investment of the corporation, Florendo said.
"There is always risk in the business, but you've got to see something different in our service," he said on the question of competition in the steel industry in Northern Mindanao.
Florendo noted the corporation's growth in the market, with 15-20 percent compared last year.
"We were only few before but now it is doubled," he said.
Florendo emphasized the corporation's corporate social responsibility (CSR), especially in the protection of the environment, recycling waste water, putting up road signs near schools and waiting sheds at public utilities' loading stations.
In Cagayan de Oro, the firm announced it would construct two waiting sheds next year.
Founded in 1963, Union GalvaSteel, a manufacturer of galvanized steel sheets and an ISO 9002 certified company, has already established 11 plants nationwide, including the new spacious and faster loading plant in Cagayan de Oro.
