THE Mindanao Container Terminal (MCT) in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental has exceeded its monthly target collection in February and March, 2012 by 38 percent, pulling the 16-percent deficit in January to a total of 22 percent over and above the actual goal during the first three months of the year.
Quinciano Pavadora, MCT’s officer-in-charge, said the Northern Mindanao’s major port in Misamis Oriental attributed the significant performance on the increase in tax collection on importation exceeding the total target collection of P1.014 billion to P1.1 billion in the first quarter of 2012.
January’s target was P300 million short to P246 million; February, P336 million to P398 million; March, P379 million to P456 million.
Pavadora, who assumed office in late June 2011, vowed to surpass target collections in the remaining three quarters of the year in effort to help pull up the tax collection in other ports in Northern Mindanao.
Northern Mindanao has five major ports including that in Cagayan de Oro, Iligan and Ozamis.
MCT’s annual target collection is placed at P4.6 billion.
