Health firms asked on medical wastes disposal

COUNCILOR President Elipe, chairperson of the Cagayan de Oro City Council committee on environment, is inviting management of different hospitals, dialysis centers and other medical establishments to attend its meeting on Thursday.
This, as the environment and health committees jointly studying the proposal for the establishment of a Centralized Infectious Medical Waste Processing Facility within the city's landfill area in Upper Dagong, Carmen.
The proposal was submitted by Roland Ramos of the Basura Atbp Inc. The company forged partnership with RAD Green Solutions, which developed the Pyroclave System, a registered medical waste processor.
The centralized facility will allow all healthcare establishments within the city to comply with the proper management of infectious medical wastes.
Once implemented, all healthcare establishments will be provided with medical waste containers and transported in a refrigerated van to ensure its safe and proper transportation.
The committee on environment held initial discussions on this during its meeting yesterday.
Elipe said pertinent ordinances and rules on medical waste disposal will also be tackled. (PR)
