3 manufacturing firms to rise in Misamis Oriental

THREE manufacturing and processing companies are set to rise in Misamis Oriental province this year or early next year, the Phividec Industrial Estate in Misamis Oriental (PIE-MO) announced Thursday.
The Phividec said the Mindanao Activated Carbon and Malaybalay Green Carbon, Inc both to rise at Sta. Cruz in Tagoloan town to operate and manage an activated carbon processing plants. Ferrotech Ventures, Inc, a manufacturing, repair and requalification of liquefied petroleum cylinders plant rises up at Sta. Ana in same municipality.
These three firms to open business in the industrial area of the province are additional to the 27 existing companies engaged in dressing plants, wood processing, manufacture of corrugated boxes, steel bars and billet, furniture making, semi-finished ply board, agro-industrial complex, activate carbon, wheelchair factory and orthopedic device production center; sintered one, cold storage facility, oxygen and acytelyne production; industrial and medical gases, power generation (coal), rendering plant, veneer plywood, general construction, car assembly, PVC production, feed mill plant, recycling of waste polyethylene plastic bags or scraps; manufacturing of food and beverages; manufacturing of banana chips, and production of industrial gases.
Phividec, stands for Philippine Veterans Investment Development Corporation, was a product of Presidential Decree No. 243, as amended, issued on 26 December 1973 in line with the Philippine government's objective of effecting the desired changes and reforms, in the socioeconomic structure of Philippine society through the utilization of the productive capacities of veterans and retirees of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. It is entrusted by Presidential Decree No. 538 to develop industrial estates throughout the country starting with its first industrial estate in Misamis Oriental.
Generally, the PIE-MO is envisioned to play a vital role in catalyzing regional economic growth and enhancing regional economic balance, dispersing industries, thus reducing congestion in highly urbanized centers, promoting exports, thereby contributing to foreign reserve, solving the unemployment problem.
PIE-MO is located in Northern Mindanao in the two municipalities of Tagoloan and Villanueva, Misamis Oriental about 25 kilometers east of Cagayan de Oro City. The project area is approximately 3,000 hectares and is comprised of some 18 barrios or sitios—Nabacaan I, Nabacaan, Domo, Balacanas,Tambobong, Dalamba, San Martin, Dinugon, Kirahon and Kiamo of Villanueva; and Casinglot, Sugbongcogon, Gracia, Baluarte, Balot, Sta. Cruz, Calsada, and Polo of Tagoloan. The area is generally fiat. It was originally occupied for residential and agricultural purposes in 1975. Villanueva has a population of 9, 863 and Tagoloan, 14,958.
