THE Bureau of Customs (BOC) in Northern Mindanao has exceeded by 21.63 percent in its January-August 2013 collection target, as it expressed confidence it will achieve its target for this year.
Deputy collector Marvin Mison said they have collected P4,434,746,717 for the period, P788,719,717 more than the target of P3,646,027,000.
Mison said the BOC would be able to reach by the end of this year its P5-billion target collection for 2013.
In 2012, the total collection was P3,856,437,796.
Mison said the bureau was able to surpass its collection targets for each of the month this year, from January to August, except in the month of June when it fell short of P13,688,873.
The highest difference registered was in the month of May when total collection reached P661,474,992 as against the target figure of P458,243,000.
Among the top payers in the region are the Del Monte Philippines, Nestle and Pilipinas Kao.
The BOC in Northern Mindanao is now among the top three of the 17 collection districts in the country.
Mison said the Mindanao Container Terminal in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental has been the top grosser in the region.
The terminal is the port of call of foreign vessels.
“Under the leadership of district collector, Atty. Lourdes Mangaoang, the BOC-10 has become a very disciplined district when it comes to collections,” Mison said.
“Importers, exporters and brokers are assured of the right performance,” he added. (PR)
